The temperature isn’t the only thing warming up this month. EDF Climate Corps fellows warmed up to their projects as they began their quests to save organizations energy and money, generating a stir of chatter about EDF Climate Corps. Below, we’ve summed up this month’s chatter about EDF Climate Corps.
Host supervisors and EDF Climate Corps fellows are equally excited about being on board
Jackson Family Wines published a post on the Kendall-Jackson Wines blog this month, welcoming EDF Climate Corps fellow, Aaron Schreiber-Stainthorp. From reading the post, it sounds like Aaron or “Ay-ay-Ron” as his team has affectionately nicknamed him, is creating quite the buzz at one of America’s favorite, family-owned and operated wineries. Host supervisors aren’t the only ones sharing stories about their participation in EDF Climate Corps this year. EDF Climate Corps fellows are also taking to blogs to share their stories.
Mid-month, Maria Fernandez shared a post on the EDF Climate Corps blog about her first week at Roanoke Economic Development Center. Daniel Ohrenstein, EDF Climate Corps fellow at the City of Boston’s Office of Environment, Energy and Open Spaces, also got in on the blogging action. After gathering tenants at the Boston Marine Industrial Park for an energy efficiency meeting, Daniel took to the Boston Redevelopment Authority’s blog to shed light on opportunities and programs available to tenants.
Alumni Spotlights
Graduate programs regularly cheer on their graduates and students that are making a difference with EDF Climate Corps. This month, the New School’s Milano School of International Affairs, Management and Urban Policy spotlighted two of their graduates, Lisabeth Tremblay and Zachary Koser, on its blog and the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies posted a spotlight blog on 11 of its students participating in EDF Climate Corps this year. EDF Climate Corps fellow, Gina Melekh shared her excitement on Presidio Graduate School’s blog to fill her classmates in on training and other activities surrounding her start at the City of Baltimore.
A Warm Welcome in Chicago
Following EDF Climate Corps decent on Chicago last month, the locals have taken interest in EDF’s efforts within the region. Sustainable Chicago, a local, sustainability e-magazine with more than 40,000 regular readers, interviewed EDF Climate Corps’ Sitar Mody about EDF’s work in the city along with 2014 EDF Climate Corps host organization, Urban Innovations. Local real estate blog, Chicago Codes also picked up the story.
Part of the Master Plan
New to EDF Climate Corps this year, Legrand North America – a U.S. based manufacturer of power, data and light solutions, is one of only two businesses that the Department of Energy recently praised for completing its Better Building, Better Plants (BBBP) commitment. In fact, the company recently shared with Forbes.com how it was able to exceed its BBBP commitment and mentioned EDF Climate Corps as part of its plan to tackle another 25 percent reduction in energy intensity across North American sites. Energy Manager Today also picked up the story.
Last, but certainly not least, AT&T, in its fifth year as an EDF Climate Corps participant, included EDF Climate Corps in its annual Corporate Sustainability Report, as part of the company’s three-pronged approach to energy management.
