Summary

Clevenger assisted Envision Charlotte in its goal of reducing energy use 20% by 2016.

Goals

Nick Clevenger was tasked with two energy efficiency projects with Envision Charlotte, a public-private sector partnership focused on reducing energy use 20 percent by 2016 in Uptown Charlotte.

Solutions

The first project Clevenger initiated was to outline incentive strategies for facilities managers at commercial office buildings, who aim to reduce the energy consumed by afterhours cleaning crews. Nick’s research focused on daytime cleaning, team cleaning, technology and contract language. Nick's second project was to design a program to recognize Uptown facility managers for behavioral and technological changes that increase energy efficiency in their buildings.

Potential Impact

The recognition program will bring facilities managers together to share best practices in energy management. Further, Charlotte will use these projects as best-practice examples for facility managers in all the commercial office buildings in Uptown Charlotte.
