About EDF Climate Corps
Companies know energy for their buildings costs a lot. But many don't have resources they can dedicate to quantifying and curtailing that impact.
EDF Climate Corps bridges this resource gap. We match trained students from leading business schools with companies that need to develop practical, actionable energy efficiency plans.
We pursue two complementary strategies for reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gases:
- We help companies identify ways to reduce energy usage and costs in their buildings.
- We train tomorrow's business leaders to incorporate energy efficiency as a standard management practice.
Climate Corps fellows have identified almost $90 million in potential savings for the companies at which they have worked. In return, the students have received invaluable experience and the opportunity to show what they can do where it really counts -- at the bottom line.
Finding and matching participants
EDF recruits forward-thinking companies and selects qualified MBA students for summer fellowships in 2011.
EDF works with companies and fellow applicants to identify the best match for each company based on fellow skill set, geographic location and workplan content.
Fellow training
In May, EDF conducts a rigorous three day training for the fellows that includes energy efficiency best practices and strategies for breaking down barriers to energy efficiency in commercial buildings.
Fellowship details
- EDF responsibilities: EDF recruits participants, trains fellows in energy efficiency and provides support to the fellows throughout the fellowship.
- Company responsibilities: Companies should invest in a building energy audit, pay the fellow's salary and give access to relevant records and information.
- Fellow responsibilities: Fellows produce a detailed report based on the workplan developed by the company and the fellow.
