Summary

Kevin Meehan helped BlackRock’s global green team upgrade their sharing platform and create new resources that will move the company toward their sustainability goals.

Goals

BlackRock, a global financial services company with the world's largest assets under management at $6 trillion, brought EDF Climate Corps fellow Kevin Meehan on board to expand and strengthen the resources available to their global employee engagement program focused on sustainability. Their Global Green Teams’ aim was to serve as a catalyzing force in helping BlackRock achieve its long-term sustainability goals. While the basic foundations of a sharing platform had been created, BlackRock was looking to expand on what was available.

Solutions

In his efforts to enhance and upgrade the Global Green Team sharing platform and resources. Meehan made modifications to the campaign materials that had been developed to support local recycling initiatives. This included listing and clarification of local regulations. He also made updates to the online sharing platform in order to ensure minimal long-term site maintenance and maximize a user-friendly experience for Green Team members.

Potential Impact

By providing an upgraded sharing platform and an increase in tools and resources available on the site, Meehan’s contributions could help BlackRock to reach their global sustainability goals. Specifically this could include meeting landfill diversion rates and paper consumption goals for 2020.
