Summary

Chaitrali Ketkale worked with Cushman & Wakefield to create roadmaps for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) reporting, LEED and energy efficiency projects.

Goals

Cushman & Wakefield, a global commercial real estate company, enlisted EDF Climate Corps Ketkale to help create a sustainability reporting framework for the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), UN Global Compact (UNGC) and EcoVadis ratings. Ketkale analyzed the Lucid Building OS building energy management software to improve energy efficiency and reduce energy costs across the Cushman & Wakefield portfolio. Cushman & Wakefield was also interested in pursuing a LEED BD+C project and reviewing CSR 2% spending mandates for its India office.

Solutions

Corporate Social Responsibility Report 2018:

Ketkale reviewed the 2018 CSR draft report and created a GRI indicator tracker tool to include all material topics per the GRI Core requirement. Chaitrali reviewed the 2018 CDP report with the CSR team. She also reviewed the 2% CSR Spend mandated by the Companies Act 2013 for the Cushman & Wakefield India office.

EcoVadis Rating 2018:

Ketkale collected documentation and completed the EcoVadis questionnaire to help Cushman & Wakefield improve its 2018 score.

Lucid Energy Data Management:

Cushman & Wakefield uses Lucid Building OS to provide building energy management solutions for clients. Ketkale created a global energy dashboard for all the firm’s offices to utilize the Building OS platform.

LEED BD+C project:

Ketkale was responsible for achieving all potential LEED points for IAQ 8.2: Daylight and Views indicator. She calculated the percentage of area with access to views using the building floor plans and an Excel-based calculator.

UN Global Compact Communication on Progress (CoP):

Ketkale reviewed content of the 2018 CSR report against the Ten Principles of UNGC. Ketkale created a tracker to help Cushman & Wakefield complete the CoP questionnaire.

Potential Impact

Based on Ketkale’s recommendations, Cushman & Wakefield will include UNGC Ten Principles as part of the 2019 CSR Report. The Energy and Sustainability team along with the CSR team will conduct capacity building workshops for facility managers to better utilize the Building OS platform. The data analysis framework will help the firm analyze energy performance across all offices and make data-driven decisions. The optimized data collection methods will be used to track Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions data for future CSR and CDP reports.
