Summary

Morgan created a strategy and tools for Dalkia Energy Solutions to tackle emerging energy policy and attract customers for efficiency and decarbonization projects.

Goals

Dalkia Energy Solutions, a leader in building decarbonization and efficiency solutions across industries, wanted to find a way to digest trends in climate policy and energy incentives and use those opportunities to attract the right customer targets. EDF Climate Corps fellow Morgan Buckley was brought on to research the policy and financing opportunities available to Dalkia Energy Solutions customers, create tools to action those opportunities, and present an overarching strategy for compliance and decarbonization to their customers.

Solutions

After consolidating available information on disparate policy (nationally and in key cities), Morgan created a set of tools and resources for Dalkia Energy Solutions, including: - National policy and tax credit map for building decarbonization, with savings calculators, live resources, and strategic insights - Digestible guide and Excel models for understanding emerging Building Performance Standards and how they will affect customers - Market map assessing potential technology partners to help Dalkia with compliance, sustainability metrics, and fault detection. - She also conducted an in-person training and strategy session with the team to begin actioning these opportunities. She led a full-day conversation focused on what this policy means for the firm and how they can use it to broaden their reach with customers needing to decarbonize.

Potential Impact

Using the resources Morgan put together, Dalkia Energy Solutions is already: Further developing its customer targeting strategy to reach buildings that need to become more efficient or lower emissions; Making a better business case to those customers to invest in improving their building stack against city or state net-zero targets; And bringing on the right partners and services (new technology, auditing providers) that will help them become the go-to partner for buildings looking to decarbonize.
