Summary

Tao Liu designed, developed, and analyzed the supply chain chemical analysis tool for Decathlon.

Goals

Zero Emission of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) is a global initiative aimed at reducing and eliminating hazardous chemicals in the textile and footwear industries. It promotes the transparency of the supply chain by specifying standards and developing tools. To enhance brand sustainability and social responsibility, Decathlon has recruited Liu Tao to develop and analyze chemical management tools.

Solutions

Tao adopted a three-part process to address this challenge: After investigating Decathlon's office habits, Tao decided to use Looker Studio for tool development. Tao designed a standardized database to unify information provided by different suppliers. Dashboards with different latitudes and particle sizes were designed based on the database.

Potential Impact

Established a visual analysis tool. By using tools, it was analyzed that there are many non-compliance issues with the use of polyurethane family chemicals, and it was proposed that using Haptex solvent-free formulations in the leather manufacturing process would result in compliance warnings, a 50% reduction in carbon emissions, and a 20% reduction in energy and water consumption.
