Summary

Zhongyi's project can help FORVIA understand the auto industry's latest decarbonization actions and analyze their headquarter office energy consumption data, he has got the high recognition from the team with excellent result.

Goals

FORVIA is committed to achieving net zero by 2045, they would like to benchmark with other industry player regarding decarbonization performance. Meanwhile, FORVIA has set up a new EMS system in China headquarter office, they would like to understand more regarding its energy consumption behavior to search opportunities on energy saving. Zhongyi Liu, a EDF climate corps fellow, was invited to summarize the Auto industry players' latest carbon decarbonization activities for 2023 based on ESG report, and analyze FORVIA headquarter office energy consumption statistics to further reduce energy consumption.

Solutions

Zhongyi approached the challenge using a three-part process: Identify the carbon emission characteristics of each part of the automotive supply chain. After collecting the carbon emission data of various enterprises, Zhongyi analyzed and compared their carbon emission types, sources, and intensity Summarize and compare decarbonization activities. Zhongyi conducted a comparative analysis of decarbonization activities according to different types of enterprises, found the latest and most powerful carbon reduction strategies, and provided suggestions for FORVIA's carbon reduction path. Analyze anomalies in energy consumption data. By setting the benchmark value and comparing it with the actual value for equipment in the FORVIA office, Zhongyi finds part of the data that does not meet the expectations, then investigates the reasons and conducts long-term monitoring.

Potential Impact

Zhongyi presented the latest carbon reduction actions to his colleagues in FORVIA China and recommended several feasible carbon reduction ideas. In addition, Zhongyi has also launched a data monitoring system for the office building, which is expected to save 68MWh of electricity per year.
