Utility Bills and Rate Sheets: Know Your Starting Place
An important part of developing a renewable energy strategy is to understand your starting point. Case in point: energy use and energy costs. Utilities provide energy use data and costs via bills and online portals, and many larger organizations also make use of energy management software / service providers. At the same time, details regarding rates (per-unit and fixed charges) are typically published in contracts or tariffs, not on the bills. In this webinar, Erin Craig will dive into electricity rate structures and fees commonly used by power providers, and provide you with the necessary tools to understand and assess electricity costs and energy bills - with details on their importance to onsite solar projects.

Renewable Energy Credits and Other Attribute Certificates
As we all learned in training, a Renewable Energy Credit represents one megawatt hour of electricity generated by a renewable resource. But if you're buying or generating RECs for your sustainability program, is that all you need to know? Are all RECs interchangeable? If I want to buy "good" RECs, how should I specify them? Where can I buy them anyway, and how much should they cost? How will I receive them and what should I do with them once I have them? In this webinar, Erin Craig will dive into REC variations, REC vendors and markets, and the several US REC tracking systems. She will also shed light onto how to evaluate and procure RECs and time willing, talk a bit about similar certificates available in overseas markets.

Onsite Solar
Installing an onsite solar project is often the most cost-effective way to buy renewable energy. It directly powers your building, offsets portions of your retail power cost, and has a reasonably mature marketplace of service providers. But does it make sense for your organization? Erin Craig will discuss the factors which affect the feasibility and cost of onsite solar, how to evaluate them on a site-specific basis, and who you need on your project team to get answers to critical questions before you decide to bring in solar vendors for bids.

Look What We Did! Promoting Renewable Energy Purchases
When organizations host, use, or purchase renewable energy or renewable energy credits, they want to share their achievements with the world and report on their new, lower greenhouse gas emissions to all their stakeholders. But reports and claims need to be accurate and credible, or the organization risks running afoul of the Federal Trade Commission, of greenhouse gas accounting auditors, and of watchdog stakeholders. Thankfully, you can tell a compelling story without overstating your accomplishments. Erin Craig will discuss the more detailed nuances of making compelling and accurate public statements about renewable energy arrangements and purchases, including examples of press releases which navigate some of the trickier questions.
