Brendan Edgerton (Yale MBA/MEM ’15) didn’t know what he was getting himself into when he accepted the offer to be an Environmental Defense Fund Climate Corps Fellow in the summer of 2013. In addition to the challenge of uncovering the right set of investment opportunities in energy efficiency for Office Depot, Edgerton’s every move would also be documented by Director James Cameron’s Showtime camera crews. When Cameron and Showtime release the historic 8-part climate change series Years of Living Dangerously this April, we’ll get to to see Edgerton in action. Before that happens, I wanted to see what it was like to be a part of the series, and see the EDF Climate Corps program through both Edgerton and Office Depot’s eyes.
Luckily, Edgerton’s supervisor at Office Depot, Senior Director of Environmental Strategy Yalmaz Siddiqui, was on campus with Dell’s Michael Murphy for the Colloquium on Sustainability Marketing’s December 9th “Nudging Big Buyers Toward Greener Products” event. Sitting down with Edgerton and Siddiqui, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to discuss the impact of the Fellowship and Years of Living Dangerously on Edgerton and Office Depot.
Check out my interview with Siqqiqui and Edgerton below:
